ANNE VISITS THE OUTSIDE CLINIC | |
| Photocall 12.30pm Friday 13 April
Anne Snelgrove MP will be visiting the longest established home visiting optician service in the UK, which is based in Swindon, on Friday 13 April at 12.30pm, in order to raise awareness of this vital service and ensure that vulnerable people do not miss out on the eye care they need. Around 350,000 domiciliary NHS sight tests are carried out each year and there are 1.4 million people confined to their homes or living in residential care. Research also shows that around 189,000 people with visual impairment fall each year at an estimated cost to the NHS of £269 million. The Outside Clinic was established in 1987 and is now the longest established home visiting optician service in the United Kingdom. All those who find it difficult to get to a High Street optician can now rely on The Outside Clinic's mobile opticians to provide an eye sight test to them in the comfort of their own home. The home visiting optician will provide a complete home eye test and offer a full dispensing service, including a wide range of frames.
