Save Victoria Road School
| |
I and Councillor Yvonne Allan and sent out questionnaires about the closure of Victoria Road School. We received over 200 replies, much more than any other consultation I have ever carried out. The consultation is online here if you'd like to take part Only a tiny number agreed the school should close, the overwhelming response was that Victoria Road was a caring school which has been successfully educating generations of Torry children. The Council’s proposals about the school’s future has now gone out to formal consultation. While I will be submitting my views based on the results of the questionnaire, and Yvonne will be speaking out against the closure at Council meetings, it is important at this stage that as many people as possible make their views known to the SNP and Lib Dem Councillors who have voted for closure. You can do this by writing to: Gordon McIntosh, Corporate Director, Neighbourhood Services (South Area), 2nd Floor, St Nicholas House, Broad Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1BY. Your letter needs to be received by 31st March. If you would like any more information about the results of the questionnaire, then please get in touch with my office. One important piece of information you might find useful is that the number of babies born in Torry is going up. In 2004 the number was 175, by 2006 this had risen to 232. Whatever your views on the future of Victoria Road School, thank you for taking the time to respond. Anne | |
