You
can improve your local area
Labour in Lewisham are encouraging local
people to get involved with the newly established Local Assemblies
in their area.
Local assemblies can bring our
community together to:
-
Develop priorities for your
local area and get your Council to take action to make
improvements
-
Enable you to get things
done by yourself as active citizens
-
Improve the accountability
of your Council and Councillors
-
Let you decide the use of
the £10,000 locality fund for your local area
-
Create opportunities for
innovation
-
Meet key players from local
service providers, like your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team, NHS
staff, voluntary organisations
Get involved!

The meetings of the assemblies will be
open to everyone living or working in the ward,
and will give an opportunity for people not normally involved in
their communities to make their voices heard, meet local leaders in
their communities and empower themselves.
If your area isn't on the list above, then the date will be
confirmed in the coming weeks.
Councillor Chris Best, the Cabinet Member for
Community Services said:
“The idea of these Assemblies is to provide a relaxed and
informal setting for local people to let the Council and other
service partners know what they think and what they want. If by
doing this we can also help and facilitate communities to organise
and do things for themselves then even better. We want to build
closer and stronger relationships with everyone who cares about the
place in which they live.”
