It has been my privilege to serve as your mayor
since 2002. During that time I have had the opportunity to meet
many people across the borough and hear your concerns, your hopes
and your ideas about how we can make our borough a better place for
us all.
A great deal of progress has
been made in that time. I’ve tackled many of those basic issues I
promised to deal with such as improving the refuse service and
introducing a programme to improve the condition of Lewisham’s
roads. And I’ve led the greatest investment in the borough’s
infrastructure since the post war period. Schools, homes, transport
and town centres, sports and health facilities have already had
considerable investment and a great deal more has been set in
motion.
My pledge to you is that I will
strive to help you make our borough a place where difference is
celebrated, where young people can find opportunities and fulfil
their potential, where our older people are supported and valued,
where respect and tolerance are encourages and where we work
together to make our home a safer, cleaner, greener place.
For more information about how I am working to make Lewisham an
even better place, please visit my website at www.mayorsteve.co.uk.
Of course I can't do it all
alone. To help me, I am supported by a cabinet made up of 7 of the
most professional and dedicated people in Lewisham. Each cabinet
member is responsible for a different portfolio and they act as my
chief advisor for that area of policy. If you would like any more
